What to do if you see the message "The attachment must be less than 3MB"

Error: The attachment must be less than 3MB

The cause:

Xero does not accept expenses with receipt attachments that are larger than 3MB.

The solution:

Replace the receipt attachment(s) with a smaller one in Pleo.

There is an alternative way to resolve this by uploading the PDF receipt straight into Xero. You can see how to attach files in Xero by clicking this link here.

Note: When carrying out an export there are checks in place to ensure a smooth export, one of which is making sure the file is 3MB or less.

  • Non PDF attachments are made smaller with a compression tool.

  • PDF attachments will automatically fail and will fall back to the export queue to be fixed manually.
